Leadership
Programs scheduled for 2009
|
In keeping with the philosophy
that everything we do in the congregation
and UU organizations is religious education,
we invite all lay leaders, professional
staff AND professional religious educators
to attend this innovative week of training,
learning, community and inspiration. Because
of the tremendous positive response last
year, there will be no concurrent tracks
so that everyone can participate in each
of them. As in 2008, a dynamic youth program
will be offered.
Come to The Mountain for
a new and exciting week July 5-10, 2009

We
Are the Leaders We've Been Waiting For!
led by Sue Sinnamon and Connie Goodbread
This
workshop will explore Systems Theory and
how it is applied to Faith Communities.
We will be covering systems thinking, leadership,
change theory, growth theory - including
the stages of faith development, triggers
of anxiety, leading for change and understanding
our system (this will be some history and
some identifying issues that we are facing
today). Based on the works of Rabbi Dr.
Edwin Friedman, Rev. Dr. Peter Steinke,
James Fowler and Maria Harris, combined
with expertise of Rev. Sue Sinnamon and
Connie Goodbread, "We Are the Leaders
We Have Been Waiting For" will be a
unique learning experience.

Crafting
a Common Language of Faith Development led
by Jessica York
Jessica
York, Youth Programs Director in the UUA's
Lifespan Faith Development office, returns
to RE Week at The Mountain to present a
program on the new core, integrated lifespan
curriculum, Tapestry of Faith. The largest
curriculum development project the UUA has
ever launched, Tapestry of Faith (TOF) will
include new children's curricula, 13 new
youth curricula, 19 new adult curricula,
and dozens of resources, at completion.
The Mountain's 2009 RE Week will offer a
taste of this dynamic new 21st century curriculum;
programming will help train participants
in the philosophy and use of TOF. In doing
this, you will interface with TOF as both
leaders and participants (because in the
ideal environment, the leader is a learner
and the learner is a leader).
Pastoral
Care
led by Rev. Rosemary Bray McNatt
"When
is it my job to provide Pastoral Care?"
"When am I out of my element?"
"Where do I go for Pastoral Care for
myself?" These and other questions
and issues about the role of Religious Educators
in congregational pastoral care will be
discussed. Rosemary's humor, warmth and
informal style will provide information,
perspective and tools to take back. As a
founder and member of the UUA Trauma Response
Team, and as a parish minister, Rosemary
has a depth of knowledge and understanding
of this important - and sometimes underemphasized
- area of service to one another.
