“The Mountain is to be applauded
for the choice of faculty. Flora, George,
and Lee are remarkable scholars whose passion
for their work is unabashed and generously
shared.”

“Sheila is a national treasure that
needs to be heard everywhere. The closing
concert (with Sheila Kay Adams, Jim Taylor
and Laura Boosinger) was an unexpected delight
that was the perfect end to my first Elderhostel
experience on ‘The Mountain.’
I leave refreshed in mind and body. My special
thanks to the wonderful staff – you
are like family.”

From
The Rev. Rosemary Bray
McNatt and Denny Davidoff
"I
want to speak of my deep commitment to the
vision of The Mountain as a Unitarian Universalist
voice in the urgent interfaith dialogue.
For far too long, Unitarian Universalists
have kept our good news to ourselves. All
too often, we have been more like a private
club than a movement willing and able to
engage other communities of faith in the
collective work of justice, equity, compassion
and peace. The world is desperately in need
of the loving, pluralistic message of our
faith, but neither can we do this great
work in isolation. We must speak the truth
of Unitarian Universalism, I believe, in
tandem with other communities of faith who
share our vision of 'an earth made fair,
with all her people one.' That is why I
was so excited to work with Shelley, Welton
Gaddy and others in putting together 'Interfaith
Visions for Peace.' The preliminary conversations
we are having already exhibit the kind of
synergy that we will need to transmit to
others as we week alternatives to violence
and war.
"I love Unitarian Universalism enough
to devote my life to it. And yet I know
we are only one voice among many liberal
religious voices that must be raised if
the world is to change its course. I believe
The Mountain has a vital role to play in
the transformation of our world that all
of us seek, and I am determined to do all
that I can to help.
"May you continue to be to so many
others the blessing you have been to me,
my family, my congregation, and Unitarian
Universalism."

"Jerry
and I spent April 17-20 at The Mountain being
part of an imaging project growing out of
the mission of The Interfaith Alliance. We
are hoping to create a summer encampment program
for 16 and 17 year olds to teach them about
the historical connection between religion
and politics in the United States and, thus,
train them for positive and informed citizenship.
There were 20 of us around the table representing
a stunning diversity of age, background, race,
education, religion, professional life, etc.
"The experience of gathering this group
at The Mountain and the actual conversation
and action plan that resulted could not have
been more within our Unitarian Universalist
tradition. I was so pleased to do this interfaith
work surrounded by statements of our UU principles
and feeling safe and secure within respectful
behaviors and creedless rituals that reflected
our values as a religious movement."
