Youth
CONferences at The Mountain
In
addition to our summer MountainCamp
programs, The Mountain offers programs during
the year for elementary (3rd
- 5th graders), junior high
(6th - 8th graders) and senior high
(9th - 12th graders) school-aged youth.
A Youth CONference is a gathering of youth
from congregations all over the southeast
(and sometimes beyond!) for a weekend program
filled with a variety of workshops, activities,
good food, a safe environment and warm cozy
cabins. Youth participate in all the activities,
share with new friends in small get-to-know-you
groups, bond during free time, and contribute
to times of fun and reflection. Volunteering
adult advisors, volunteering Peer Advocate
Leaders (PALs), volunteering PAL Mentors,
and Mountain Staff work together to supervise
the youth — they're the ones who help
make your participation in the CONs possible
. . . so be sure to thank them!

Plan
now to bring your church's youth group to
a Mountain CON. Youth CONs at The Mountain
are extremely popular, so plan to register
early.
CON registrations are only accepted when sent
by the designated congregational Religious
Education leader. Registrations are accepted
for youth groups only — and must come
through a RE Leader. Individuals who do not
have a youth group and would like to attend
the CON, or if you have any questions about
CON registration, please contact Sabine
Gifford at 828-526-5838, ext 252.

Do
NOT bring . . .
Drugs
or alcohol, tobacco products, or weapons . . .
you won't need them!
We believe a safe environment is
one with legal activities and intentional community.
Having a "no sex" rule prevents exclusive
relationships, and gives us opportunities to be
intimate in other ways.
Cell
phones and any electronic devices that you don't
want to take the chance to lose. Cell
phones are a distraction to the community and
The Mountain can't take responsibility for lost
personal items.
Food,
gum, soda beverages. While we know that
these items are appreciated on the trip up to
and back from the CON, the only way we can avoid
critters from getting into our cabins is by not
providing them the things that entice them to
come in the first place!
